David A. Thomas is an experienced university teacher, management consultant, and business executive.  His comprehensive and diverse background includes key leadership positions in the computer systems integration and software industries, and extensive experience managing people and projects, both domestically and internationally, across several industries.


David holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology as well as a Master of Business Administration Degree, both from the University of Southern California.  He also earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the California State Polytechnic University.  His primary areas of expertise center on key factors that affect human performance, including adult learning and motivational theories, project management and team leadership, decision-making, and problem solving.


Throughout his career, David has held leadership positions with corporations such as Allied Signal, Telxon Corporation, Kronos Data Systems, and Symbol Technologies.  As a successful entrepreneur, David founded and grew two businesses; Monarch Productivity Group, a corporate training and management consulting firm specializing in the development of customized results-based project management and continuous improvement training programs, and Thomas Enterprises / Marina Mobile Estates, a real estate investment and development firm which he grew to over four million dollars in holdings.


He has provided consulting, training and development, instructional design, and project support for many organizations in various industries, including Intel Corporation, Motorola, Reynolds and Reynolds, Pioneer Hybrid, Golden State Foods, Apria Healthcare, University of Minnesota, and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy - to name just a few.  David has also worked with several nonprofit organizations, including the YMCA, For Kids Sake, Cedar Lake Camp, the Flinn Foundation, and the cities of Mesa and Tempe, Arizona.


With respect to academic experience, David is currently a faculty member at Arizona State University, where he teaches in the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Program.  The core courses that he teaches center on skills associated with functioning in an increasingly interdisciplinary society; interdisciplinary team skills, effective learning and motivational strategies, integration and synthesis of disciplinary learning, and other skills critical for success in the 21
st Century Workplace. 


With over fifteen years of experience in various aspects of teaching, David is well known for his ability to structure training efforts that address specific, predetermined goals.  His pragmatic and experiential approach to training and development has yielded significant results with respect to creating the behavior changes necessary to achieve tangible and lasting results for program participants.  His dynamic and inspirational style of facilitation engages and challenges participants to adopt effective improvement strategies both on-the-job and in their personal lives as well.
